Saturday the 15th January 1848

The Shenandoah Valley cooperation met Saturday the 15th January 1848 at 9 1/2 past o'clock at Walnut Springs Shenandoah County Va. Marten boehm in the Chair, & Isaac R Hite secretary. The meeting being called to order, it was unanimously resolved that the case of J J Jackson be taken up. After some remarks made by Isaac R Hite relative to settling a difficulty at the Narrow Passage between J D Ferguson & Sampson Wonger which had been misrepresented by the said J D Ferguson, and likewise a matter of difference between F D Ferguson & J J Jackson at the same time & place which had also been misrepresented by the said J D Ferguson. The brethren then proceeded to investigate the charges of faction &c alleged against Bro J J Jackson. The charges consisted in A Strickler's having written certain letters for, & in behalf of the congregation at Zion of which he was the Elder, he Strickler being present was called upon to produce the necessary testimony to make evident such charge, said Strickler not being able to produce the least testimony favouring said charge of faction, brother J J Jackson was acquitted. Moreover, said Strickler had charged J J Jackson in the same letter written for, & in behalf of the aforesaid congregation with having carried on an unjustifiable opposition against the Brethren Fergusons said Strickler being called upon to sustain said charges could not produce the smallest testimony making good any part of said charge, upon which Bro J J Jackson was honerably aqcuitted. And after minutely investigating those charges it was found that A Strickler did not write those letters by the authority of the congregation at Zion but that they were written in the absence of any order from said congregation under a pretence that he had the authority from the congregation. Resolved therefore that the brethren in Eastern Virginia be written to correcting any wrong impression that may have been made, & disabusing their minds with respect to said charges.

Resolved that this meeting adjourn untill Friday before [blank] Lords day in [blank] 1848.
