The Shenandoah Valley cooperation met October 13th 1848. In Borden's school house, the members present, were from Walnut Spring, Joseph Orndorff, William Barr, Martin Boehm, and Daniel Shull, from Narrow Passage Isaac R Hite and Abner Hoffman, when Isaac R Hite was chosen moderator and Daniel Schull secretary.

The case of Martin F Miley was taken up, and postponed untill tomorrow, 4 o'clock pm Oct 14th. Ordered that we adjourn untill tomorrow 9 o'clock the 14th of Oct. 1848.

October 14th 1848. the cooperation met agreeable to the order on yesterday the 13th of Oct. 1848. The members present, from Walnut Spring, Joseph Orndorff, William Barr, Martin Boehm, and Daniel Shull, from Narrow Passage Isaac R Hite and Abner Hoffman. They then went into business according to the order of yesterday, Saturday the 13th Oct. 1848. The cooperation then called on J. J. Jackson to give a statement of the number of persons he baptize at the different congregations to which he preached, and he reported the following

Bapt 6 persons in 1847 at Walnut Spring

" 8 or 10 [indecipherable word] since he commenced labouring

" 11 and 2 taken in, in Hardy County

" 5 and 1 taken in at Union Forge

" 13 at Staunton

making 43 and taken in, in all 46

Then the proceedings of the former cooperations were read by the secretary by whihc it was discovered that one of tghe resolutions passed relative to the authority giving license a letter recommendation to the clerk it being known that Henry Jinings is now preaching and that the cooperation body has not inked (?) a letter of recommendation to that effect. Therefore the cooperation body resolved that investigation be made at the clerks to ascertain by what the the said Henry Jinings, obtained his license, and that Martin Boehm is appointed to make said investigation and report the same to the Moderator

Next the subject of employing an Evangelist came up, resolved that Brother J. J.

Jackson is employed as an Evangelist untill the cooperation can employ an other Evangelist.

Resolved that the secretary is to write to the Editor of the Christian Intelligencer, Edited in Scotsferry Abermarl County Virginia.

Then the case of Martin F. Miley was taken up according to yesterdays proceedings, from the evidence produced it was unanimously decided that the trial was Illegal.

Then Martin F. Miley produced testimony to prove that the charge, that J. D. Ferguson through Abraham Saum was instrumental in causing the congregation worshiping at Bordens school house to withdraw from the cooperation, decided unanimously that the testimony was sufficient to sustain Martin F. Miley in the charge above alluded to, resolved that M. F. Miley be furnished a certificate shoiwing that he sustained the charge against Ferguson and Saum as already named.

resolved that the next meeting be at Walnut Spring on Thursday before the 1st Lords day in January 1849.

resolved that we adjourn untill our next meeting at Walnut Spring.
