The Shenandoah Valley Cooperation met May the 2d 1851 according to appointment at New Providence Frederick County Va. the Brethren present from the various Congregations were as follows:

On motion of Br. Martin F. Miley Bro. J. O. was appointed Moderator protem. H. L. Smoots being Secretary. The meeting was called to order by the Moderator when it was resolved to adjourn until Saturday morning at 11 Oclock A.M.
May 3d 1851 The Moderator being in the chair the meeting was called to order, when they commenced business.
Whereas there is in the Valley of Virginia a body of men known be the Church of Christ in the Valley as factionists, who have seceded or withdrawn themselves from the church and have endeavoured, indeed, through their imprudence and wickedness to misrepresent the Church of Christ throughout the Valley; and whereas there are many good and just Brethren (Strangers in the Valley) who come to the Valley(for the purpose of preaching many of them) who may be imposed upon by those wicked and designing men, belonging to the Faction.
Resolve that the chair appoint a committee of vigilance, composed of one or more members of each congregation, whose duty it shall be when a preacher comes within the bounds of the Cooperation, to give him a true account of the state and condition of the several chruches, or congregations composing this cooperartion and also to make strict inquiry of such preacher who sent him, or who sent for him.
The following Brethren were appointed, to wit: Union Forge I. R. Hite, Narrow Passage M. F. Miley, Fairview Joseph Rhodes, Zion A. Crabill, Marsh James Barr,Sandy Ridge James A. Coyle.
On motion the meeting adjourned until Saturday before the Second Lords day of September next, to meet at Borden's School House Shenandoah County Va.
