Pursuant to public notice, the Valley Cooperation of Disciples of Christ met in Mt. Jackson, Va. on Friday 7th day of October 1853 at 3½ O'clock P. M. The meeting was called to order by Bro. Jos. S. Peneb Pennybaker, Mod and John Perkey having been appointed secretary pro. tem. The session was opened with prayer by Elder Wm. D. Hunter.

Moved and adopted that Brethren Hunter and Coleman be invited to participate in the deliberations of this session of the Cooperation.

After prayer by Bro. Coleman the meeting adjourned to tomorrow morning at 9 O'Clock.

October 8th the Cooperation met agreeably to arrangement meeting open by singing and prayer, after which it proceeded to business. On motion it was resolved that the order for conducting the meeting of the preceding cooperation shall be adopted for the conduct of this.

J. A. Cowgill reported himself as a delegate from Sandy Ridge congregation.

The delegates being called upon to report from their respective congregations

New Providence reported order Numbering upwards of 50 members.

Zion reported as not having been in a State of order though the prospect is at this time much better. No. 50

Walnut Spring congregation in a State reported as in a very prosperous condition -- meeting regularly -- the members improving rapidly. No. 60 members.

Narrow Passage it seems have not met been accustomed to meet regularly though they are in tolerable order. No. 35

Sandy Ridge reports in usual order No. 55

Mt Jackson Congregation is reported as in a state of union & harmony, though not meeting regularly, from the elders not being able to attend punctually. No. 14

It was moved and carried that the rule respecting the contribution of the congregations be suspended for the present to be afterwards attended to.

It was moved and carried that the Cooperation employ two Evangelists for the ensuing year.

It was moved and carried that that (sic) $25 be paid to the general evangelizing fund for the next year.

It was moved and carried that the instructing resolutions, passed by the Cooperation Nov 1852 relative to the admission of congregation at Walnut Spring, is hereby rescinded.

Upon motion it was resolved that Brother Amos Crable be appointed treasurer for the Cooperation.

Upon motion it was resolved that J. A. Cowgill be appointed to communicate with the congregations not represented in this cooperation to ascertain what they will pay toward the fund for sustaining the evangelists and to make his report to the moderator at as early a day as is practicable

It was moved and carried that Brethren Dillard and Cowgill be appointed the evangelists for the next ensuing year.

Upon motion it was resolved that brethren Dillard, Penebaker, Amos Crabill, & Cowgill be appointed delegates to the State Cooperation

to be holden at Richmond beginning Friday before the 3rd Lord's day in November next.

Upon motion it was resolved that the next session of this Cooperation be held at Walnut Spring, Shenandoah co. Va. beginning Friday before the 3rd the first Lord's day in April next at 3 O'Clock P.M.

Upon motion it was resolved that the secretary be requested to make out a report in a condensed form and to send it to the Publisher of the Christian Intelligencer.

It was moved and carried that the churches composing this Cooperation should pay in their respective subscriptions to the Cooperation at the Spring session.

It was then moved that the minutes of this cooperation be adopted, and it was accordingly done.
