The Shenandoah Valley Cooperation met at Zion on Saturday 19th of April 1856.
Brother John Pirkey in the chair and J. A. Cowgill secretary. After singing and prayer the meeting proceeded to business.
It was then moved and adopted that the minutes of the preceding session of the Cooperation be read, which was accordingly done.
The delegates from the different congregations then reported themselves.

Reports of the state of the Different Congregations composing the Valley Cooperation.
New Providence reports in usual order, numbering 34.
Walnut Spring reports in usual order, numbering about 60.
Zion reports in usual order, numbering about 40.
Strasburg reports in order numbering 12.
It was then moved and adopted that that (sic) the report of the Evangelist be read, and it was accordingly done read and adopted. By the report of the evangelist, it seems that there had been 11 additions since the last session.
Upon motion it was resolved that the Cooperation [a word missing?] an evangelist to serve till the fall session of the meeting.
Upon motion it was resolved that the cooperation secure the services of brother Jesse H. Berry for the time above specified.
Upon motion it was resolved that the funds appropriated at the fall session of Cooperation for the evangelist then appointed be turned over to J. A. Cowgill.
Amounts appropriated to secure the services of brother Berry.
New Providence pledges $10.00 Walnut Spring " $50.00 Strasburg " $15.00 Zion " $10.00
On motion it was resolved that Bro. Pirkey be appointed to confer with bro. Berry in relation to securing his services as an evangelist.
Upon motion it was resolved that the evangelist's report be entered on the minutes of the meeting.
Upon motion it was resolved that the Cooperation [a word missing?] an evangelist to serve till the fall session of the meeting.
Upon motion it was resolved that
this Cooperation duly appreciate the valuable services of bro. Cowgill as our Evangelist, preaching in the in the Valley of Virginia for the 21/2 years last past, and that they much regret the departure of bro. Cowgill from the field where he has so ably proclaimed the truth of our common Lord & Master. Where too, he has exhibited so prominently the spirit that should characterize all the Disciples of Christ.
Resolved that the next session of this body be held at Strasburg, beginning friday before the First Lord's day in September next at 3 o'clock P. M.
Resolved that brother Abraham Stickley be appointed to the office of secretary of this Cooperation.
Upon motion the meeting then adjourned to meet in Strasburg at the time above specified.
